FAQs
Unless you request your donation to be allocated somewhere specific, funds are allocated to a variety of areas. To give an idea, here is how funds were allocated in 2023:
Yes! Salvation Army is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax-deductible by U.S. law. To claim your donation as deductible on your taxes, keep a copy of your receipt. If you give online, you will receive a receipt via email. If you give by mail, your receipt will come via mail.
Absolutely. Our website is protected by industry-standard SSL technology and we will not sell, redistribute, or share your personal information. Our online donation software, Zeffy, uses Stripe to process payments. “Stripe is PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified which is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. This ensures that all transactions are securely processed…Zeffy itself does not store or process any credit card information.”
Since Zeffy does not charge processing fees to non-profits, 100% of your donation comes to us. Once we receive your donation, typically about 2% covers admin supplies and about 15% goes to our Midland Division. See the “Where does my money go?” tab above for a further breakdown of allocation of funds.
